KATHRYN SHEA DUNCAN

Wandering with words, light, and sound.

About

At my core, I am a storyteller. Through words, images, or experiences I seek, I am forever in the pursuit of meaningful ways to capture and share the world around me.

Writing has been, for as long as I can remember, my means of escape: being able to process, create, and connect through words.

Photography is preservation of the faces, places, and those passing instances which time will take away from us. With strong familial ties, photography has taught me the importance of holding on… to the people we love and the stories they carry.

Music weaves itself into every aspect of who I am and who I want to become, and connects me to places and people in a way nothing else can. It has a way of explaining who I am, even when words fall short.

Travel is both a professional pursuit and a personal passion. It has introduced me to cultures, traditions, and ways of life that have broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of the world.

This space is a reflection of all the things that inspire me. It’s where my personal passions and professional life intertwine. I hope you find something here that speaks to you.

Professional Experience

Visit Lake Charles

August 2023 – Present
I joined Visit Lake Charles in 2019 as the Manager of Public Relations, eager to share the story of Southwest Louisiana with the world. What started as a role focused on media relations and destination storytelling has grown into leading the organization’s entire social media and communications strategy.

Over the years, I have expanded my expertise—developing and executing digital marketing campaigns, managing influencer collaborations, overseeing content creation, and securing national press coverage. As I moved into the Director of Social Media role and now serve as the Senior Director of Social Media & Communications, I’ve had the privilege of shaping the brand’s voice and vision, blending data-driven strategy with creative storytelling to elevate our destination’s presence. My work now includes:

  • Developing and executing digital marketing and communications strategies
  • Overseeing content creation, including photography, videography, and copywriting
  • Managing media relations and securing national press coverage
  • Leveraging data insights to refine engagement and audience growth
